Thank You to all of the W-2 staff for taking care of the Chapter’s business while we were at the Good Sam RV National rally in Kentucky. This rally is similar to Wing Ding but is for all sorts of campers and rv’s. We really had a great time going to a lot of seminars and the entertainment. We had 5 nights of entertainment and only one was not good. We got to see Kevin Skinner, the winner of America’s Got Talent, who was there and gave us a performance. Also got to see Tanya Tucker, The Monarchs, The Neil Diamond Band, and a really good talent show. We also toured all around the Elizabethtown area after the rally was over. Glad to be back home though. By the way, found a cook book that is from Boogar Hollow so stay tuned as we will be having some new and interesting recipes in the future.
Aug 7, Loren led us on a Amish Country ride in Indiana. We stopped at Grabil, IN to go through a really neat antique place that is there. Now get this, the ladies made a break for the local hardware store first. Why that hardware store looked a whole lot like Glenn’s to us guys. Maybe they are developing an interest in our Glenn’s Day ride that is coming up shortly. (Aug 28, I doubt it though) Got to see some really nice scenery as we rode. Then had dinner at the Outback in Decatur, IN. After that we headed for home.
On Aug 11th, we made the day ride over to Shipshewana, IN for the Flea market. We car pooled over. Boy was the weather hot. Thanks Jim for being our chauffeur. On Aug 14, the ride was to Hartville Flea market. It is probably as big as Shipshewana but more of it is inside in the air conditioning. This ride was a lot of fun especially on the way home. The weather had been calling for record heat and possible strong storms. It never got real hot though. We were heading home when the storm came. We pulled off the road as we could not see and figured that the cars could not see either. Only had to wait a short spell and the rest of the ride home was great. Thanks Carl and Janice for leading the ride. Aug 15, Loren led us on a Lake Erie ride. We got to see some things that were different such as The National Rifle Association competition. There was people from all across our country as well as Canada there. While we were in Marble Head, asked about the cost of the ferry for motorcycles and people. The ladies thought that this would be a good ride for next year. Found out that the price has risen quite a bit $52.00 for a bike and two people to go across. Had some lunch at Diana’s which was very good. Thanks Loren. There are still a couple more events in August so be sure and check the schedule. A Big Thank You to those that have volunteered to be our hosts for our Progressive Dinner Ride on September 19th, Appetizers will be a t Jeff & Laurie Pelczarski’s, Main course will be at Bob & Ruth Boyd’s, Desserts will be at Pat & Marilyn McAlear’s. Starting at 1:00PM the Guy Ride will meet at I-Hop in Perrysburg at 8:00AM on September 21 to go to Wings Over The Smokies. The Ladies week end will be September 23-26. For those that are not going on either of these events, Chapter S is having a Teddy Bear Ride/Camp Out combinedwith the GWRRA Northwest Section Ride on Sept 24 -26. The camping will be at the Fairgrounds in Tiffin. We have flyers available for this event.
We are handing out the ride schedule feedback form at the meeting and will email the form also. From this we will be
able to put together an interesting and fun filled ride schedule for next year. If there is any changes that you would like to see, places that you would like to visit, or restaurants that you would like to be on our dinner ride schedule or W-2 breakfast schedule. Please list these in the appropriate section of the form. While we may not be able to accommodate all of your ideas and suggestions. It will help to put together a schedule that all of us can enjoy. It is your Chapter, so become involved and let’s make our Chapter GREAT!!!!!
We still have a couple of months of riding season left before the winter arrives. So check the schedule and come enjoy some riding before the season is over.
Carl and I have been down and talked with the Woodland Mall about our mall show next year. We are scheduled for April 16-17, 2011. We will take the bikes in the mall of course on Friday night April 15. This is the week end before Easter and is the third weekend in April. So the weather hopefully will be good.

    Hi Everyone,
Well the dog days of summer are coming to an end fast. We have had some good rides the last few weeks. In case you missed them: Ride to Waldo’s was great and we missed the rain. Those cream pies were luscious as usual. The ride to Hartville Flea market was great and the food was good. Managed to spend a little money on some treasures. Stopped for an ice cream before we started heading for home. Guess what, we were watching the sky and had decided to pull over and put on our rain gear. As we were just getting the zippers up, here came the rain. We continued on for just a very short distance and decided to get out of the weather. Pulled off into a farmhouse driveway. Gotup by the barn and stood under the eaves out of the rain and wind. Carl opened up one of the
barn doors and we step inside. Except Tom, standing in the rain said I’m not getting wet. After about 1/2 hour, we were on our way again. We had smooth sailing the rest of the way home. Loren led a great lake Erie ride and a good lunch at Diana’s. We headed back home but we had to finish our ride with a Gold Winger's favorite last stop ice cream. Of course you all know that. Oh that’s it for now. Be talking to you on the flip side of the next couple rides and we hope to see more riders. Carl & Janice

    Group riding Hand Signals
These are some of the standard hand signals for use in communicating with the entire group, even though most of the motorcycles are CB equipped. However as time goes on and new members join there may be some that do not have a CB, so the hand signals become important. These hand signals should be passed from the lead bike back to the last bike in the group. So that means each of us has a responsibility to ensure we pass the hand signal back. In the 2010 issue of the Gold Book there is a listing of the hand signals for GWRRA. Please take a moment the review this section in the Gold Book on page II-8 and 9. For those that were here at the July meeting I went over most of the hand signals during the meeting and a comment was made that putting the hand signals in a future newsletter would be a good idea.

Remember the life you save may be your own. So take your time and be observant.
